Norby
Project Overview
Norby is a start-up company that I founded in 2022. It’s an iOS task manager iOS app with a robust set of features that helps you capture, schedule tasks and set reminders. Other than an iOS Developer, I was the sole designer to this product and designed the entire experience from end to end.
Creating Norby was a multifaceted learning experience that taught me a great deal about developing my own product. I had to wear many hats as the sole designer: not only focusing on interface design and user experience, but also taking on roles like Product Manager and Product Owner.
Features
Norby's features were designed to help users avoid feeling overwhelmed when unloading their to-do lists, and instead make realistic plans that enable them to achieve their goals and be more mentally at ease.
Add tasks: quickly capture and organize tasks
Sub-tasks: breaking down bigger tasks into manageable sub-tasks for realistic planning
Timeframe: set a time frame for each tasks
Reminders - to never forget anything important
Recurring tasks - enabling recurring tasks to form healthy habits
Calendar - tasks that are integrated with the calendar to plan your days, weeks, and months
Tags - to organize and search tasks
Widgets - see your tasks at a glance without having to open up the app
Productivity - tracking productivity with weekly statistics on completed tasks and focus areas as well as achievement badges
Themes - offering multiple color themes including night and dark modes.
Learnings
Norby’s run from 2022 to 2024 was short but rewarding. This experience taught me skills like budget management, understanding technology capabilities while collaborating with developers, and figuring out how to market to convince new customers to try your app. The broad scope of designing Norby from the ground up gave me hands-on experience across the full product lifecycle and bringing an app to life.
